FIANA KUMM

Hometown: Havertown, PA

Background: Passion for the sport began at Haverford High School, where I ran XC, indoor, and outdoor track. My freshman year I ran for George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, and won conferences in the 800, and was voted the Colonial Athletic Conference's "Rookie of the Year" in track in 2005. I transferred to Penn State to finish out my collegiate running career, and specialized in the middle distance track events for the Nittany Lions.

Throwing it back to a high school highlight: Winning the PIAA State Championship for Haverford HS in 2004 in the 4x800 relay.

The Fun Questions:

Favorite Race: Difficult question. I love any race on the track (800-Mile), but the Penn Relays has been my favorite event to race at and watch over the years. From high school to the master's classes, Penn always instills my love of the sport and my home city, Philadelphia.

Favorite Workout: Track/speed workouts such as repeat 400's with a short walk/jog recovery or a "ladder" style workout on the track.

Why I Choose to Run for PRT: Sense of team, community, enthusiasm, and shared passion for running.

What I Like to Do Besides Running: Hiking, camping, or anything outdoors with my husband and 2.5 year old vizsla. I also enjoy traveling, baking, and spending time with my family and friends.
